Wales is home to some of the leading brands in global technology such as Sony, General Dynamics, IQE and SPTS Technologies, as well as dynamic tech companies like Method4, Yard Digital and DevOps Guys.
They were among over 20 companies who awaited university and college students from South and Mid Wales at the first ESTnet NG Graduate recruitment fair held at Cardiff and Vale College on 17 February.
On offer were graduate jobs and industry placement opportunities in various engineering and software development careers, including emerging technologies like cloud computing, analytics, and cyber security. Students and employers were in deep conversation throughout the day, with details exchanged and follow-ups arranged for the near future.
The ESTnet Managing Director Avril Lewis said,
“Our research tells us that 70% of technology companies in Wales expect to grow in the next two years. We also know that securing talented and skilled young people is one of the biggest challenges facing our companies.
The first ESTnet graduate recruitment fair brought recruiting employers with eager young people from as far away as Aberystwyth and Swansea. I know that employers who attended were pleased with the enthusiasm and quality of the students, we look forward to following up with our members in the near future to check progress.”
